The name of the union is `Fazilpur’ of Dinajpur sadar upazila under Dinajpur district. There has been working nine (9) Social Support Group (SSG) facilitating by GRAWHREE project around nine wards aiming protect violence against women and economic empowerment of women in this union. The vital member of SSG Ward No. 1 Hasina Begum protest if any unjust, unfair event occurs in her account she must protest that. Once few people have come to Hasina’s home for having donation to administer a marriage of someone, she asked about bride, she knows that the name of the bride is Parul daughter of Day laborer Pamuddin. Parul was only 13 years of age. She donated nothing, then and then she went to Parul’s home. Hasina tried to convince her mother Aurina not to administer Parul’s marriage because not as much of aged of her. Hasina tried to counsel her saying, various physical, complexities, disappearances and disorders shall occur. She mentioned legal sections on early marriage but Hasina could not be able to understand Paruls’ mother. Aurina Said,’ we are poor, we need to go out side of house, and Parul stays at home alone and unsecured. If any incident occur what will be then? So I want to complete Parul’s marriage. Hasina answer that, Marriage Registrar (Kazi) could not administer the marriage without Parul’s birth registration. Parul’s aunty informed Hasina that they collect Parul’s birth registration from the secretary of Union Parishad. Informing that Hasina then and then went to UP member of Ward-1 and President of Social Support Group Md. Abdur Rahim and asked him how could secretary give false birth registration where he mentioned Parul’s age 18 Years whereas she is only 13, how dare he could like this immoral deed? It is not tolerable said Hasina. She declared to sit in Union Parishad with all the members of SSG. Abdur Rahim then share with the other UP members. In that time secretary of UP secretly return back the birth registration from Parul’s aunty. Parul’s mother could not collect the birth registration any longer and an early marriage could stop for a certain period of time.

Hasina could accept challenge and gain to stop an unethical doing by her commitment not tolerate violence against women and early marriage is the first step of all kinds of violence occurs against women. Hasina promised that, any kind of wrong doing against women that occurs violence must stop at any means.

Bangladesh is a country of full in green leaves and full of grains with crop fields. Dimla is the poorest, deprived and unprivileged upazila of Nilphamari district among 64 districts in Bangladesh. Mst. Apija lives in the village of Akashkuri of Nautara union, Dimla upazila of Nilphamari district with her husband Md. Mojinur Rahman, who’s HH No. 553. The village is situated shoreline of the Nautara river with 4 squre Km. area and 6/7 Km. far from Dimla upazila. About 1400 inhabitants live in this village of which poor HH 112 and extreme poor HH are 253. Most of the HH’s occupation is bamboo craft works and also agriculture, day labour, their lives lead through this so on.

Apija got married 5 years ago and she birthed a daughter named Arjina after passing a year and Arjina is now above 4 years. Their lives go on with the poverty and hunger. But she didn’t agree to their insufferable life and thought to do something alternative to create earnings. Her husband’s occupied his earnings by the works and producing of bamboo crafts and he produced only bamboo slips before, Apija helped her husband into his work. Then their income was 60 to 70 taka per day by which it was very difficult to bear their family so she thought how to increase their income. Apija already has included in the JSKS SHOUHARDO II Program funded by CARE Bangladesh and USAID by the support of Bangladesh govt. During the assessment by the program for IGA selection Apija gave need for training on bamboo craft works and she completed the 3 days training successfully. Then she started to produce baskets for keeping vegetables, fish, flowers, Dali, Kula different pots, bamboo slips and other products made of bamboo and she sold the crafts to local markets with minimum rate. SHOUHARDO II program support her to create market linkage, as a result, now she started to supply her products from local market to capital city Dhaka. Then she earned average 150 to 200 taka per day except her expense. The other members of her family and also her neighbors (Mojaffar HH No. 542; Jhantu HH NO. 503; Kasemul HH NO. 505 etc) engaged in the works by seeing Apija’s success and not only the neighbors of Akashkuri village but also the other villagers have started to received this as their regular source of income. Apija earned well and she put the earned to her family improvement like sanitary latrine, tube well for safe drinking water, homestead garden, poultry and goat rearing etc. IGA. By having fresh water, vegetables, nutritious food, consciousness of health, hygiene, sanitation the family members of Apija remain free from diseases. Now their nutritional requirements have fulfilled and all keep sound health. Children of the families are going to school. The wheel of her family is moving well. Their living status has upgraded.

On the other hand Apija’s credibility has grown up to all. She became reliable and trustworthiness. It is mentionable that Apija is the president of VDC of Akashkuri village. She engaged in social development activities. She started to linkage with the duty bearer of line department and awarded others. She is working hardly for the development of her village which will be the milestone for future.

Apija could be able to make a dimensional change of her family, neighbors and other villages. She disseminated a message that everyone can change his/her life through proper diligence and hard working properly.

Her future plan is to make the small industry with the Bamboo craft & wicker works.

বাঁশের কাজে বদলে দিল অপিজার জীবন

সুজলা, সফলা, শস্য শ্যামলা আমাদের এই দেশ। বাংলাদেশের ৬৪টি জেলার মধ্যে সবচেয়ে দরিদ্র, অবহেলিত জেলা নীলফামারী। নীলফামারী জেলার ডিমলা উপজেলায় নাউতারা ইউনিয়নে মধ্যে আকাশকুড়ি গ্রামে অপিজার বসবাস।নাউতারা ইউনিয়নটি ডিমলা উপজেলা থেকে ৭/৮ কি:মি: দুরে এবং নাউতারা নদীর তীর ঘেষে মধ্যে আকাশকুড়ি গ্রামটি অবস্থিত।এই গ্রামটি ৪ বর্গকিমি জুড়ে অবস্থিত। প্রায় ১৪০০ লোকের বসবাস। এই গ্রামের দরিদ্র ও হত দরিদ্র মোট খানা ৩৬৫, এর মধ্যে হত দরিদ্র ২৫৩ দরিদ্র ১১২ এই গ্রামের অধিকাংশ পরিবারের আয়ের উ্যস বাঁশ বেতের কাজ, তাছাড়া কৃষি, দিন মুজুর করেও কোন রকমে দিন যাপন করে।ঐ গ্রামের বসবাস করে অপিজা, অপিজার আজ থেকে ৫ বছর পুর্বে বিয়ে হয়, তার স্বামী মো: মোজিনুর রহমান খানা নং ৫৫৩, বিবাহ হওয়ার পর থেকেই স্বামীর সংসারে অভাব অনটনের মধ্যে তার দিন কাটে অপিজার। বছর না ঘুরতেই তাদের সংসারে আসে একটি মেয়ে, মেয়েটির নাম আরজিনা এবং বয়স ৪ বছর ৬ মাস শুরু হয় সংসার জীবন। কিন্ত অপিজার এই কষ্টময় জীবন তার কাছে ভাল লাগেনি। ভাবতে থাকে বিকল্প কিছু করার।তার স্বামীর পুর্ববর্তী পেশাই ছিল বাশের কাজ, সে বাঁশ দিয়ে শুধু বাঁশের ধারা তৈরী করত। ।স্বামীর বাঁশের কাজে সহায়তা করত: অপিজা।তখন তাদের প্রতিদিন আয় ছিল খুবই কম মাএ ৬০-৭০ টাকা, ঐ স্বল্প আয় দিয়ে অপিজার সংসার চালানোই ছিল কস্টসাধ্য। অপিজা ভাবতে থাকে কিভাবে সংসারে আরও বেশী আয় করা যায়, ঐ গ্রামেই কাজ করে বেসরকারী সংস্থা জেএসকেএস-কেয়ার সৌহার্দ্য-২ কর্মসুচী, ইউএসএআইডি ও বাংলাদেশ সরকারের সহায়তায়। সৌহার্দ্য-২ কর্মসুচী হত দরিদ্র, দরিদ্রদের নিয়ে কাজ করে। অপিজাও সৌহার্দ্য-২ কর্মসুচীর একজন সুবিধাভোগী। এই কর্মসুচীর আওতায় আয়-বৃদ্বি মূলক কর্মকান্ডের যখন সম্ভ্যবতা যাচাই করা হয়, তখন অপিজা বাঁশের কাজের উপর প্রশিক্ষণের চাহিদা দেয়। অপিজা সৌহার্দ্য -২ কর্মসূচীর আওতায় ৩ দিনব্যাপি অভিজ্ঞ প্রশিক্ষকের মাধ্যমে বাঁশের কাজের প্রশিক্ষণ পায়। প্রশিক্ষণে তিনি বাঁশ দিয়ে বাঁশের জানালার পর্দা, ফুল/ফল রাখার ঝুড়ি, মাছ রাখার ঝুড়ি, চালা, কুলা বানানের প্রশিক্ষণ সফলভাবে গ্রহণ করে। প্রশিক্ষণের পরবর্তীতে তিনি বাঁশের জানালার পর্দা, ফুল/ফল রাখার ঝুড়ি, মাছ রাখার ঝুড়ি, চালা, কুলা ইত্যাদি তৈরী করেন এবং বাজারে বিক্রয় করেন। উ্যপাদিত পণ্য-সামগ্রী বাজারজাত করনের লিংকেজ তৈরী করে দেন সৌহার্দ্য-২ কর্মসূচী।

তারই ধারাবাহিকতায় স্থানীয় বাজারসহ ঢাকায় উ্যপাদিত পণ্য-সামগ্রী বাজারজাত করেন।উ্যপাদিত ব্যয় বাদে অপিজার প্রতিদিনের আয় ১৫০-২০০ টাকা।অপিজার কাজের সফলতা দেখে তার পরিবারের অন্যন্য সদস্য এই কাজের সাথে সম্পৃক্ত হয়, শুধু তার পরিবারই নয় অপিজার প্রতিবেশী মোজাফ্ফর খাসা নং ৫৪২, ঝাল্টু ৫০৩, কাশেমুল খানা নং ৫০৫,এছাড়া আরও অনেকে অপিজার কাছ থেকে বাঁশের কাজ শিখে উ্যপাদিত পন্যদ্রব্য বিক্রয় করে জীবন যাপন করিতেছে।

শুধু মধ্যে আকাশকুড়ি নয় পার্শ্ববর্তী গ্রামেও এই কাজ করে জীবিকা নির্বাহ করিতেছে।অপিজার এই কাজের ্উপার্জিত অর্থ তার সংসারে বিভিন্ন কাজে যেমন: বাড়ীতে স্বাস্থ্যসম্মত পায়খানা স্থাপন, নিরাপদ পানির জন্য নলক’প স্থাপন, বাড়ীতে শাক-সবজির বাগান, হাঁস-মুরগী পালন, ছাগল পালন করে সংসারের চাকা উন্নতির দিকে যাচ্ছে।

তার পরিবারে আগে অনেক অসুখ বিসুখ লেগে থাকত, এখন বাড়ীতে স্বাস্থ্যসম্মত পায়খানা থাকাতে এখন আর আগের মত অসুখ বিসুখ নাই, তার বাড়ীতে শাকসবজির বাগান করার ফলে তিনি বাড়ীতে খাচ্ছেন এবং বাজারে ও বিক্রি করে অর্থ উপার্জন করছে এবং তার পরিবারের ভিটামিন ও পুষ্টির অভাব দুর হচ্ছে, ফলে তার পরিবারের সকলের স্বাস্থ্য ভাল থাকছে।

তারই সুফল ঐ গ্রামে নয় পার্শ্ববতী গ্রামেও ছড়িয়ে যাচ্ছে।অপিজার সংসারে এখন কোন অভাবের ছাপ চোখে পড়ছে না, তার পরিবারের সবাই পেট ভরে খেতে পারছে, যা পূর্বে ছিল না, শুধু পেট ভরে খাবারই নয়-বাচ্চাকে স্কুলে পাঠােেনা, পরিবারের অন্যন্য সদস্যদেরকে প্রয়োজনীয় কেনা –কাটা করা, সুন্দুরভাবে বিভিন্ন উ্যসব পালন করা, সবই সম্ভব হচ্ছে পরিবারের আয় বাড়ার কারণে। গ্রামের সকলের নিকট অপিজার গ্রহণ যোগ্যতা বেড়েছে, সে সকলের নিকট একজন প্রতিভাবান নারী হিসাবে পরিচিত। তার মত সংসারের হাল ধরার জন্য গ্রামের অন্যরা চেষ্টা করছে। এখানে উল্লেখ্য অপিজা মধ্য আকাশকুড়ি গ্রাম উন্নয়ন কমিটির একজন সভাপতি। সে গ্রামের অনেক উন্নয়নমূলক কাজের সাথে জড়িত। ঐ গ্রামের বাল্য বিবাহ রোধ করা, গ্রামের হত দরিদ্র মানুষের সহায়তার স্থানীয় প্রতিনিধির সাথে যোগাযোগ, সরকারী ও বেসরকারী সংস্থার মাধ্যমে এলাকার উন্নয়নের জন্য অপিজা কাজ করে যাচ্ছে, যা সকলের নিকট মাইলফলক হয়ে থাকবে

অপিজার বাঁশের তৈরী পন্য-সামগ্্রী ঢাকায় ব্যাপক চাহিদা এবং জেএসকেএস-কেয়ার বাংলাদেশ আরও বিভিন্ন কোং সাথে যোগাযোগ এবং বেশী করে পণ্য-সামগ্রী বাজারজাত করণে চেষ্টা করা হচ্ছে।যদি ঢাকার মার্কেটসহ সঠিকভাবে বাজারজাত করতে পারলে অপিজাসহ ঐ গ্রামের অনেকের আয়ের পরিমান অনেকাংশে বৃদ্বি পাবে।এটাই অপিজার ভবিষ্য পরিকল্পনা।
