Gender Equality, SRHR, and Protection:

Addressing harmful social norms, preventing gender-based violence, promoting adolescent and youth SRHR, and strengthening safeguarding and referral systems: JSKS addresses deep-rooted harmful social norms that perpetuate gender inequality, discrimination, and violence against women and marginalized groups. Through community awareness sessions, dialogue with local leaders, and engagement with men and boys as allies, JSKS promotes positive gender norms and challenges practices such as early marriage, son preference, and restrictive gender roles. In the area of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) , the program provides adolescent girls, youth, and women with accurate information on reproductive health, family planning, menstrual hygiene, and safe motherhood, while also creating safe spaces for open discussion on often-taboo topics. Protection interventions focus on preventing gender-based violence (GBV) through awareness-raising, capacity building of service providers, and strengthening community-based referral systems. JSKS also establishes and strengthens safeguarding and referral mechanisms, ensuring that survivors of violence have access to quality, confidential, and timely support services including health care, psycho-social counseling, legal aid, and safe shelter. By linking communities with government institutions (such as the District Women Affairs Office, Social Services, and Legal Aid Committees), JSKS ensures that protection systems are accountable, accessible, and inclusive for all, particularly for Dalit, Adivasi, and other marginalized populations.
