Climate Resilience and Inclusive Livelihoods:

Promoting climate-adaptive livelihoods, disaster risk reduction, and social protection linkages to enhance household and community resilience: JSKS promotes climate-resilient livelihoods and strengthens the capacity of marginalized communities particularly Dalit, Adivasi, and ultra-poor households to adapt to the increasing impacts of climate change, including floods, droughts, cold waves, and river erosion. It introduces climate-adaptive agricultural practices such as drought-resistant crops, floating vegetable gardens, and improved water management, alongside alternative income-generating activities like small-scale livestock rearing, poultry, and off-farm enterprises. The program also integrates disaster risk reduction (DRR) through community-based early warning systems, formation and training of disaster management committees, and dissemination of search and rescue materials to vulnerable unions. Additionally, JSKS strengthens linkages with government social protection schemes such as social safety net programs, disaster relief, and agricultural support services to ensure that vulnerable households have access to timely assistance during and after climate shocks. By combining livelihood diversification, disaster preparedness, and social protection, the program enhances household and community resilience, reducing vulnerability and building long-term adaptive capacity.
